CHITWAN: The Manakamana cable car, the cable way used for visiting Manakamana Temple, is halting service after two days as part of preparation to tackle the coronavirus spread. The Manakamana Darshan Pvt took this decision on Thursday.

Company director general DN Kayastha shared that the cable car service would be halted from Saturday in order to assist the government’s decision to avoid congregation in view of the COVID-19 menace.

The service would resume from mid-march. For some days, the number of devotees has also declined heavily.

The cableway provides service to 3,500 people every day to reach the Manakamana Temple of Gorkha district from Ichchhamanakamana-4 of neighboring Chitwan district.
