SEE postponement: Some 482,707 students would have been writing exams now

KATHMANDU: Had the government not postponed the Secondary Education Examination (SEE) examination scheduled to be conducted from today, a total of 482,707 students would have been sitting for the exams in 1,995 centers throughout the country.

The National Examinations Board, Office of the Controller of Examinations had informed all preparations for the exam had been complete. The exam were scheduled to conclude on March 30.

A meeting of the high-level committee led by Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokhrel on Wednesday evening, however, decided to postpone the SEE scheduled to be held from today owing to coronavirus fears.

According to Ramraj Khakurel, Controller of the Examinations, some 9,509 students were appearing the exam towards the technical stream.

Similarly, 16,242 students were supposed to appear in the exams in a bid to improve their grades.

While the highest number of students — 13,667 — was from the Bagmati State, the lowest number — 36,436 — was from the Karnali State.

According to Khakurel, some 5.1 million sets of question papers had been printed for a total of 86 subjects and they had been delivered to all the districts.

Some 65,000 workforce would set to be mobilized to conduct the exams.
