Belgium Princess Astrid arrives in Kathmandu

KATHMANDU: Princess Astrid, the younger sister of Belgium King Philippe, has arrived in Kathmandu today on a weeklong visit.

Minister of State for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Moti Lal Dugad received her at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Sunday.

During her stay here, Princess Astrid will pay a courtesy call on President Bidya Devi Bhandari.

She is also scheduled to hold separate meetings with the Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokhrel, Foreign Affairs Minister Pradeep Gyawali, and Health Minister Bhanu Bhakta Dhakal, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

While in Nepal, she will also visit the Kailai district where she will be participating in the inaugural ceremony of new tuberculosis (TB) center, supported by a Belgium-based NGO, Damien Foundation, and meet with TB patients there.

Princess Astrid, who is also the honorary chairperson of the NGO, is also scheduled to visit Midpoint Hospital in Nawalparasi.

She will return home on January 25.
