NC, JSP demand summoning Parliament session immediately

Strike two-point understanding



KATHMANDU: Opposition parties Nepali Congress (NC) and Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) have demanded the government to convene a session of the federal Parliament immediately.

A meeting between the top leaders of the two parties at the residence of Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba in Budhanilkantha on Saturday demanded to convene the Parliament meeting.

A meeting of NC office-bearers held on Wednesday had decided to hold discussions with the opposition parties on summoning Parliament.

JSP leader Baburam Bhattarai’s Press Advisor Bishwadeep Pandey said that a two-point understanding was reached during the meeting.

The two parties have agreed to demand the government to convene a parliamentary session immediately and to move ahead by cooperating with the opposition parties in the parliament on issues of public interest including protection of democracy, corruption, various aspects of COVID-19 and economic crisis.

Along with Deuba, senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel and Dr. Minendra Rijal from NC and JSP Chairman Mahanta Thakur and leaders Baburam Bhattarai and Rajendra Mahato attended the meeting.

The top leaders of both parties have also agreed to play a role of strong opposition by coordinating in the Parliament.
