SC Bar Association polls underway; 605 casting votes

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court (SC) Bar Association is holding an election to elect a new executive committee today.  The vote casting began at 8 am and will continue until 2 pm.

As many as 605 legal practitioners are casting their votes in the elections, according to Raju Khadka, chief election officer of the Supreme Court Bar Association.

Two panels – progressive and democratic – are contesting the elections.

Senior Advocate Rabi Narayan Khanal is leading the team of progressive, professional , patriotic and inclusive legal practitioners while Senior Advocate Purna Man Shakya is leading the team of  broad democratic inclusive (Madhesi, indigenous nationalities) professional legal practitioners.

Khanal is a full-time legal practitioner while Shakya is also involved in teaching apart from legal profession.
