DOHA: Four Nepali migrant workers have been stranded in high and dry in Saudi Arabia for the last 15 months.

They had gone to Saudi Arabia five years ago through an agent and joined Kawabal Contracting Company. According to the victims, the company did not allow them to return home even after the expiry of their contract.

“The company did not issue a residential permit letter of Saudi Arabia nor did it provide us our remuneration,” Arjun Thapa Magar told Khabarhub.

They had filed a case in the labor court of Saudi Arabia 11 months ago complaining that the company did not send them back home even after the expiry of their contract.

However, their case has not been heard so far, said Rudra Bahadur Shrestha, another victim.

“We came to Saudi Arabia by taking loan. We have not received our salary for the last seven months now. We have been jobless for the last 15 months,” said Shrestha.

Even though they knocked the door of Nepali Embassy in Saudi Arabia, it did not address their woes. “It did nothing except receiving our documents,” complained Magar.

The victims have appealed to the Nepali Embassy and the Nepal government for help as they have been stranded in Saudi Arabia without jobs for a long time.
