3 nabbed for trying to defraud people on pretext of exchanging USD



DANG: Dang police have arrested three people, including a couple from Dhading, on charges of trying to cheat people in the guise of exchanging the US dollar.

The arrested are Sharmila Koirala, 31, of Galchi Rural Municipality-5 in Dhading, her husband Ram Bahadur Tamang, 56, and Mangal Prasad Tharu, 28, of Rapti Sonari Rural Municipality-3 in Banke, according to the District Police Office, Dang.

According to Dang District Police Office Spokesperson and DSP Sumit Khadka, the police team arrested them on the basis of information that foreign currency was being traded illegally at Basnet Hotel in Lamahi Municipality-9, Ameliya around 7:30 on Sunday.

Police found that they had staked original notes only at the front and back of the bundle, while papers cut in the shape of notes were kept in the middle.
