Nepal, Oman sign agreement on visa exemption



KATHMANDU: Nepal and Oman have signed an agreement on visa exemption for diplomatic, special, service and government passport holders for both the countries.

The agreement was signed at a ceremony held at Oman’s Foreign Ministry on Monday.

The agreement was signed by Nepal’s Ambassador to Oman Sharmila Parajuli Dhakal and Mohammad bin Nasir bin Mohammad Al Wahebi, Secretary (Administration and Accounts) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman.

Dhakal stated that the agreement stipulates that citizens of both countries can enter, stay, and depart from each other’s country without a visa for 90 days from the date of each entry.

Ambassador Dhakal said that the agreement would help in enhancing bilateral official visits, transit visits and other activities between Oman and Nepal.

She said the agreement on the bilateral visa waiver was very important in bilateral diplomatic relations.

A statement issued by the embassy said that the agreement would facilitate visits to Oman for various activities including labor in the context of the recent development of Oman International Airport as a busy transit.

After the signing ceremony, Ambassador Dhakal and Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman Al Wahibi exchanged views and stressed on the need to make the various dimensions of bilateral relations more dynamic and active.
