Three nabbed for betting in IPL



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested three people for betting online in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) in the UAE.

A team deployed from the District Police Office, Morang, arrested Purushottam Sah, 37, of Bhattimod in Biratnagar Metropolitan City-16 at 11:30 pm on Sunday.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Man Bahadur Rai said that he used to bet online in the IPL game over the phone.

Manjit Sah, 35, and Apjar Ali, 28, were also arrested for their involvement in the betting, police said.

Police seized Rs 28,500, three mobile phones, three diaries, and a Pulsar motorcycle (Ko 18 Pa 6889) from them.

Further investigation is underway into the case of gambling and betting.
