NC leader Thapa flays govt decision not to bear COVID-19 expenses

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress lawmaker Gagan Thapa has come down heavily on the government for its latest decision not to bear treatment expenses of the COVID-19 infected person.

Posting a twitter message, former Health Minister Thapa  ironically said that the government had better admit publicly that it cannot do more than counting the number of COVID-19-infected cases.

“The government had better admit publicly that it can do nothing more than counting the numbers of COVID-19-infected people staying in quarantine and isolation camps,” tweeted  Thapa.

The Ministry of Health and Population has decided not to bear test and treatment expenses for the COVID-19.

A meeting of the Ministry of Health on Sunday decided that all except for severely disabled, senior citizens, sanitation workers, security personnel, health workers and frontline staff should undergone test and treatment on their own, said Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam.

At a regular press briefing of the ministry on Sunday, Spokesperson Gautam stated that the decision was taken as per the meeting of the Council of Ministers.
