Over 600 health workers infected with COVID-19 in Kathmandu Valley

KATHMANDU: Coronavirus infection has been confirmed in over 600 health workers in Kathmandu Valley so far.

Director at Epidemiology and Diseases Control Division Dr. Basudev Pandey stated that health workers working in the treatment of the coronavirus have been infected.

He said that health workers working at COVID hospitals, involved in coronavirus testing, deployed for home isolation, quarantine and contact tracing have become more infected.

More than 150 health workers of TU Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj alone have contracted the coronavirus. Of them, 21 are doctors and other nurses and ward assistants.

Similarly, 115 health workers have been infected at Bir Hospital.

Dr. Kedar Century, Executive Director of Bir Hospital said that 25 doctors and 35 nurses and other ward and administration staffers are among those diagnosed positive.

Similarly, eight medics have been infected at Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Diseases Hospital.
