Landslide obstructs Besishahar-Chame road section



LAMJUNG: The floods and landslides triggered by incessant rain since Friday evening have obstructed traffic along the Beshishahar-Chame road section this morning.

Road traffic has been halted with the landslide that occurred at Kharkharebhir along the Beshisahar-Chame road section connecting Lamjung and Manang districts.

Sub-Engineer of the Dumre-Beshishahar-Chamre road project office Lamjung, Suman Adhikari said the landslide with boulders rolling down from above 300 meters off the road has disrupted the traffic at Beshishahar municipality-6.

“There is no possibility to immediately resume the traffic operation. The road obstructed is quite narrow, the land is also filthy and the Marsyangdi River has eroded the portion below the road and the landslide is continuous”, he added.

All the vehicles carrying goods and passengers as well as emergency services have been stranded on the road due to road disruption.

Earlier too, the floods and landslides occurred along with the heavy rainfall had crumbled 20 meters section of the road on Wednesday morning.
