Graft case filed against 4 cops for hiding seized gold



KATHMANDU: A case has been filed at Special Court against four police personnel including Inspector Khem Prasad Nepal of Border Police Post, Timure for their alleged involvement in misappropriating seized gold.

The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed the Rs 3.3 million graft case against them for committing corruption by revenue leakage.

Police constables Ram Sharan Rimal, Ram Kaji Lama and Purushottam Khatri involved in misappropriating the seized gold have also been named as defendants.

A complaint was lodged against them alleging that the gold smuggled from China to Nepal was confiscated but not handed over to the concerned authorities and the culprits were released.

Constable Rimal had seized 422 grams of gold from a passenger in a container (Na 6 Kha 4932) on December 27 and the gold was later seized.

Imprisonment of four to six years has been sought against them.
