Qatar Airways brings 43 passengers and 24 bodies from abroad



KATHMANDU: A chartered flight of Qatar Airways landed at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) bringing 43 passengers and 20 dead bodies this afternoon.

According to Rajan Prasad Shrestha, the Executive Director of Foreign Employment Board, the dead bodies of Sik Ram Tharu of Bardiya, Arun Kumar Panjiyar of Sarlahi, Shiva Shankar Rawat of Mahottari, Chhutrawa Mandar Khatway of Dhanusha, Jitendra Thapa Magar of Makwanpur, Yam Bahadur Thapa of Rupandehi, Kasindra Yadav and Manoj Paswan of Sarlahi, Anil Chaudhary of Mahottari, and Mohammad Alam Musalman of Kapilvastu are brought to Nepal on Friday.

Likewise, Mustak Saish and Rupesh Kumar Mandal of Siraha, Kumba Tamang of Lamjung, Bhakta Bahadur Thapa Magar of Banke, Rajendra Prasad Mandal of Saptari, Yuva Raj Adhikari of Morang, Dharma Kumar Thapa of Bhojpur, Min Bahadur Thapa of Udayapur, Nir Bahadur Kami of Surkhet and Mangal Bahadur Tamang of Bhojpur have also been brought via Qatar Airways.

According to Shrestha, meanwhile, the Jajira Air brought two bodies Sony Tamang of Nuwakot and Man Bahadur Ale of Sankhuwasabha from Kuwait on Friday.

Among other dead bodies brought on Friday are 1 each from the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

Nepal Airlines has brought Pemba Norbu Sherpa of Sindhupalchowk from the UAE and the Himalayan Airlines brought the dead body from Saudia Arabia.

Before this, 3 bodies from Kuwait and 1 each from Oman and UAE have been brought to Nepal.

The Foreign Employment Board will send the dead bodies home free of cost.

“Generally, the Board arranges sending the dead bodies home provided the relatives of the deceased apply for free delivery of the dead bodies,” Shrestha said, “However, as it is not possible to come to Kathmandu to apply for such service, the Board has been arranging to sent the dead ones home free of cost.”

According to the Executive Director, the FEB has arranged to manage 20 dead bodies in a day, it is preparing to enhance the capacatiy and arrange for 40 bodies in a day if needed.
