NCP and China’s Communist Party interaction on party operation underway

KATHMANDU: The video conference of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) to share their experiences of party operation has begun.

As many as 100 NCP leaders, including its Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and Chief of the NCP School Department Ishwor Pokhrel, are participating in the interaction organized by the Department and CPC’s International Liaison Department.

NCP leaders Dahal and Pokharel have participated in the interaction from the Dhumbarahi-based NCP party headquarters while other leaders will be mere spectators, party sources said.

On behalf of CPC, the Chief of the International Liaison Department, Song Tao, Deputy Chief Guo Yezhou is participating in the interaction.

Meanwhile, NCP’s foreign department was not informed about the interaction, sources have said.

In the video conferencing participated by over 100 party representatives, NCP Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal is the keynote speaker.

Song Tao, the head of the International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China, will provide training to participants, according to sources.

The meeting will focus on infrastructure developments, impact of coronavirus pandemic, international political developments and inter-country border issues.

The meeting will be held via a webinar zoom app.

It should be noted that NCP and the Chinese Communist Party had on September last year signed a crucial memorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation between the two parties.

With the signing of the MoU, the two ruling communist parties had officially established their sisterly relationship.

NCP’s Madhav Kumar Nepal, who is also the head of the party’s Foreign Relations Department and Song Tao had signed the agreement in Kathmandu amid the presence of party chairman duo KP Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

Earlier, on September 26, 2019, Ambassador Hou Yanqi had attended the Seminar on “Xi Jinping Thought: Building a Community With a Shared Future for Mankind” and delivered a speech.

Ishwar Pokharel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Sundar Nath Bhattaral, Acting Chairman of China Study Center, Dr. Upendra Gautam, Secretary General of China Study Center, Prof. Wang Gangyi, Former Executive Director of China International Publication Group, also participated in the Seminar.
