153 Nepalis arrive Kathmandu from Saudi Arabia



KATHMANDU: One hundred and fifty-three Nepali people stranded in Saudi Arabia due to COVID-19 have arrived in Kathmandu.

An airbus of Himalaya Airlines with 153 Nepali people on board landed at Tribhuvan International Airport at 6:45 am today, said Raj Kumar Chhetri, the Spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN).

A dead body of a Nepali migrant worker who died in the line of duty has been brought via this flight.

This is the first flight that airlifted the Nepali people from Saudi Arabia.

Himalaya Airlines will also conduct a second chartered flight to rescue the Nepali people from Dammam on Saturday.

A total of 226 Nepalis will come via the flight.

Similarly, Nepal Airlines will bring Nepalis from Riyadh of Saudi Arabia on June 21.

Nepali Embassy has already unveiled a priority list of 445 Nepalis to be rescued.

Similarly, 150 people are arriving home from the Maldives and some from Qatar, too. Most of them are women. Their plane will land at TIA 12 pm, according to Chhetri.
