NCP lawmaker Shrestha challenges to prove abduction allegations

KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) lawmaker Krishna Kumar Shrestha ‘Kisan’ has challenged to prove the allegations of abduction labeled against him.

Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives on Monday, Shrestha said that he was ready to hang himself in front of all the lawmakers if it was proved that he was involved in the abduction.

He said, “A few weeks ago, there was talk of the abduction of a lawmaker and character of me and another lawmaker Mahesh Basnet was assassinated. I would like to testify to all of you. I want to challenge those who are accusing me of kidnapping. If proven, I am ready to die hanging in front of all. Are those who accused us ready to hang themselves?”

Janata Samajbadi Party’s lawmaker Surendra Yadav had filed a case against former IGP Sarbendra Khanal, lawmakers Basnet and Shrestha for ‘kidnapping’ him from Janakpur.

Police have forwarded the file to the District Attorney’s Office.
