Three arrested with large quantity of drugs in Kathmandu



KATHMANDU: The Armed Police Force (APF) on Tuesday arrested three individuals from Gangkhel in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-14 with a large quantity of narcotic drugs.

The arrested are 26-year-old Rakesh Kumar Sah, an Indian national; 21-year-old Nausad Ansari of Kalaiya-5, Bara; and 24-year-old Deepak Rai of Manebhanjyang-5, Okhaldhunga, who is currently residing in Lalitpur.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Shailendra Thapa, the trio was apprehended by a special team from the APF Nepal Intelligence Bureau acting on a tip-off that they were illegally bringing the drugs from India into Nepal for distribution and sale.

Police recovered 120,000 capsules of the drug Damadol, a Tata vehicle with registration number Ba Pra 01-007 Cha 7017, a motorcycle with registration number Bagmati Province 02-065 Pa 4489, three mobile phones, and cash in Nepali currency.

The arrested individuals, along with the seized drugs, cash, vehicle, motorcycle, and mobile phones, are being handed over to the concerned authorities for further investigation and legal action.
