MCC was signed on national consensus: RPP Chair Thapa

HEATUDA: Chairman of Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Kamal Thapa has said the erstwhile government signed the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement with the US government based on a national consensus.

“The agreement is not linked to a military alliance,” he clarified at a function on Saturday.

Saying the compact was signed for infrastructural development of Nepal, the former foreign minister said MMC should not be obstructed due to internal feud in the ruling party.

On a separate note, Thapa said the election process for a new Speaker should be started at the soonest.
