POKHARA: Some 200 trekkers marooned at Machhapuchhre and Annapurna Base Camps following avalanches and snowfall have been safely rescued.

They were rescued through choppers on Saturday. The trekkers were stranded at a place called Deurali on the way to the base camps.

However, whereabouts of four South Koreans and three Nepali guides missing after the avalanche is still unknown, Nepal’s Department of Tourism official Meera Acharya said.

Weather conditions were poor with the temperature dropping in the last two days, making the operation more difficult.
