Five killed, three injured in Udayapur jeep mishap



KATHMANDU: Five people have died in a road accident at Katari municipality-14, Bhadaure along the Siddhicharan Highway in Udayapur district on early Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as 46-year-old Ram Bahadur Sarki and Karme Sarki, 27, of Okhaldhunga, Manebhanjyang-9, while the identities of the others are yet to be established, said District Police Office, Udayapur.

The accident took place when a Scorpio jeep, Ba 20 Cha 7171, heading to Okhaldhunga from Bhairahawa met with an accident at the wee hours of Sunday.

Three others sustained critical injuries in the accident.

The injured are jeep driver Pawan Khadka, 28, of Rupandehi, Kalpana Sarki, 18, and Kumari Sarki, 33, of Okhaldhunga Manebhanjyang-9.

The injured have been taken to Katari-based hospital for treatment after rescue, said DSP Bed Prasad Gautam of DPO, Udayapur.

The health condition of the injured is critical, according to DSP Gautam.
