KATHMANDU: Delhi Capitals has climbed atop the points tally by defeating Chennai Super Kings by five wickets in an IPL math held in the United Arab Emirates.
Held at Sharjah Criecket Stadium Saturday night, Delhi reached the target of 180 runs set by Chennai losing five wickets in 19.5 overs.
Delhi’ S Dhawan scored a century with 101 runs studded with 14 fours and one six off 58 balls. Similarly, MP Stoinis, captain SS Iyer, and AR Patel made 24, 23 and 21 runs, respectively.
In reply, Chennai’s DL Chahar took two wickets while SM Curran, SN Thakur and DJ Bravo grabbed one wicket each of Delhi.
Earlier, electing to bat first after winning the toss, Chennai notched up 179 runs losing four wickets in the allotted 20 runs.
F du Plessis top-scored with 58 runs including six fours and two sixes off 47 balls while AT Rayudu and SR Watson scored 45 and 36 runs respectively.
Delhi’s A Nortje grabbed two wickets while TU Deshpande and K Rabada claimed one wicket each of Chennai.
With this win, Delhi is atop the points tally with14 points from nine games and Chennai is in the sixth position with six points from nine games.
