Preparations underway to impose prohibitory order in Valley

KATHMANDU: With the surge in the coronavirus cases every single day, District Administration Offices are preparing to impose a prohibitory order in the Kathmandu Valley.

According to sources, chief district officers of all the three districts of the Kathmandu Valley are making internal preparations to clamp an injunction to stem the COVID-19 spread.

Kathmandu Chief District Officer Janak Raj Dahal said preparations are underway to impose the prohibitory order since the number of cases are increasing day by day and people are not abiding by the health safety standards set by the government.

CDOs of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur on August 16 had issued a directive for the people to follow but they are not being followed strictly.

The order had been issued to shut down shops except for essential ones, not to crowd up, and to strictly follow health safety measures set by the government.

The order will be further tightened since the people were found not abiding by the issued order, said Bhaktapur’s CDO Humkala Pandey.

All the three district administration offices are awaiting the decision from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
