Health Research Council to study dexamethasone’s use

KATHMANDU: The National Health Research Council of Nepal has said it will study the use of dexamethasone in the treatment of coronavirus patients.

Dexamethasone, a steroid that has been used since the 1960s to reduce inflammation, has recently drawn attention after British researchers claimed it has saved the lives of a few patients.

The World Health Organization has welcomed the results emphasizing on additional research to assess its impact.

With this, Nepal is also set to study the use of this medicine, according to Council Member-Secretary Dr Pradip Gyawali.

Likewise, doctors in Nepal involved in the treatment of coronavirus patients have said it will be too early for them to be excited about it.
