Italy registers 22,170 deaths, 168, 941 infection cases

KATHMANDU: Italy, the second worst-hit country in terms of deaths, has witnessed 525 deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the number of death toll to 22,170 as of Friday morning.

With 3,786 new cases, the number of infection cases has reached 168, 941, the third highest in terms of infection cases, after Spain and America. This is an increase by 1,119 in the number of single day cases. New cases were 2667 yesterday.

Currently, 106, 607 people are undergoing treatment at various hospitals in the country, of which 2,936 are critical. Meanwhile, 40,164 have recovered after treatment.

Broke out in Wuhan City of China last December, the deadly virus has spread to 210 countries including two international conveyances across the world, killing 145,417 and infecting 2,180,003 people as of Friday morning.
