ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is reported to have allegedly used some 200 Twitter handles to trigger dissatisfaction against Indian police during the recent Delhi violence, Indian security agencies’ report said.

According to the dossier, Pakistan took to social media to provoke Indian Muslims thus flaring violence in the Indian capital recently.

The dossier said that several hundred handles were used to target the Delhi Police using hashtags such as #DelhiPoliceTruth, #ShameonDelhiPolice, and #DelhiPoliceMurders, between February 25 and March 3. The dossier was accessed by India’s Hindustan Times newspaper.

Indian capital Delhi witnessed violence in February over the new citizenship law endorsed by the Government of India in December last year.

The report has detailed investigations conducted by Indian security agencies. The Twitter handles were created at the behest of Pakistan in a bid to create communal disturbance in India, the newspaper said.

According to the report, several of these handles were in touch with some social media handles created in India.

The dossier said that the idea behind the exercise was to demonstrate that the Delhi Police wrongly targeted Muslims during the communal violence which claimed some 53 lives and left more than 500 injured.

The report also reportedly identified around 70 handles from Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Lahore, and Karachi, which were tweeting under the hashtags such as #DelhiRiots2020.

Likewise, more than 100 handles were tweeting under the hashtag #DelhiBurning.
