KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has claimed that it was due to the love and affection of the people that he was active and doing fairly well despite undergoing surgeries for four times.
Speaking in an event organized in his hometown at Damak on Sunday, PM Oli asserted that he was surviving due to the love and affection of public for the noble causes such as combating corruption in the country and usher the country further ahead in the path of development and progress.
Citing that he was battling various ailments since 46 years, Oli confidently said that he was not afraid to fight against reactionaries and anti-people forces. He also assured the public that although he had some health issues, his confidence level and morale was very high and he would live for some more years for the sake of country and people. “I would like to extend my gratitude for the people in this area.
I could work for the country and people due to your best wishes,” the PM thanked the people, adding, “Please convey my affection to children and greetings to the elderly and all those well-wishers.” According to him, he had dreamed of constructing a ring road in Damak which has been realized finally.
Stating that the country had made a headway for the development, he urged all the people to work with confidence and enthusiasm for development and prosperity.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Government, addressing the public from the place in Damak which was once the camp for the Bhutanese refugees, said that the Bhutanese refugees residing in various camps in Nepal had got rid of their grueling lives, thanks to their resettlement to third countries.
Reminiscing that the decision to resettle them in the third countries had courted protest and disputes initially, Oli expressed his happiness over the fact that the move has brought happiness in the lives of those Bhutanese refugees resettled in the third countries.

The resettlement program regarding the Bhutanese refugees was launched in 2007 and more than 100,000 Bhutanese had been resettled to the third-countries as of 2018, according to the UN Refugee Agency, UNHCR. According to PM Oli, the Bhutanese refugees who were resettled to third countries had got rid of the circumstances in which their lives were dependent on the aid of donor agencies.
He was hopeful that the offspring of those resettled in the other countries would get the best education and upon completing their education, an environment favorable for them to return to their countries.
Oli said that the government was effortful towards seeking sustainable solutions for those remaining Bhutanese refugees in Nepal.
