Journo Dhakal’s murder-accused sentenced to 39 yrs in jail

KATHMANDU: Makwanpur District Court sentenced two murder-accused to 39 years in jail on the charge of killing Journalist Manohar Dhakal.

Hearing the case, a single bench of district judge Dilli Ranta Shrestha handed the jail-term to 19-year-old Prabin Waiba of Hetauda-12 and Anamol Pudasaini, 20, of Hetauda-11 for their involvement in killing Dhakal in cold blood.

On January 9, 2019, Pudasaini and Waiba had assaulted Dhakal and decamped with his gold ring and mobile.

Critically injured Dhakal, who was rushed to Hetauda Hospital, had died in the course of treatment.

Federation of Nepali Journalists, Press Chautari and Press Union had demanded a stringent action against the culprit categorically stating that Dhakal had been murdered.

Police had arrested them after seven days.
