PAC urges CIAA to probe on irregularity on scientific forest management

KATHMANDU: The Public Accounts Committee of the House of Representatives has decided to write to the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) urging it to investigate the irregularities in the scientific forest management (SFM).

The committee meeting held on Thursday also directed the government to scrap the existing provision on running SFM but shift the SFM under the sustainable forest program run as per the Forest Act. The SFM should be implemented after the Provinces formulate a strategy.

The cutting down of trees under the SFM must also be stopped, the meeting added.
