Gen Z leader Miraj Dhungana reaches Sarlahi to back Gagan Thapa

KATHMANDU: Gen Z campaigner Miraj Dhungana has arrived in Sarlahi to extend support to Nepali Congress leader Gagan Kumar Thapa.

Dhungana, along with a group of youths, reached Sarlahi Constituency-4 on Monday afternoon to campaign in favor of Gagan Kumar Thapa, president of the Nepali Congress.

Dhungana had earlier come into the spotlight as a leading figure of the Gen Z movement. He had obtained official permission from the Kathmandu District Administration Office to organize the Gen Z protest on September 8.

The rally had begun from Maitighar with plans to proceed to New Baneshwor and conclude in a mass gathering. However, after alleged infiltration during the protest, Dhungana called on participants to return home, stating that the movement had gone beyond their control.

Since then, Dhungana has said that none of the demands raised by the Gen Z movement have been addressed. He has also claimed that he was unable to secure a meeting with Prime Minister Sushila Karki, and that his team was barred from entering Singha Durbar.

Dhungana’s presence in Sarlahi is seen as an attempt to mobilize young voters in support of Thapa as the election campaign intensifies.
