KATHMANDU: Nepal Communist Party (NCP) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal alias Prachanda called on President Bidya Devi Bhandari on Tuesday.

According to a source at the President’s Office, Prachanda reached Sheetal Niwas at 5: 30 pm to meet the President and held talks for around two hours.

During the meeting with Prachanda, President Bhandari also discussed the current issues of the country as well as the escalating disputes in the ruling party.

“During the two-hour meeting with President Prachanda, it is natural for President Bhandari to be interested in the growing disputes in the ruling party. Talks have also been held with Chairman Prachanda on the same issue,” said the source Sheetal Niwas, “At such a time, the president’s effort is to build understanding. Accordingly, a meeting was held with Prachanda.”

In a conversation with President Prachanda, President Bhandari said that if the party splits, the achievements may be lost and suggested the two Chairmen to settle the dispute.

The meeting between Executive Chairman Prachanda and President Bhandari is viewed as meaningful at a time when the dispute in the party is at its peak.
