KATHMANDU: Former Deputy Prime Minister and Nepali Congress leader Prakash Man Singh has pointed out that the government seems too weak to claim the land encroached by the neighbors.

Speaking at a program organized by Nagarjun Municipality, Former Minister for Foreign Affairs Singh criticized the incumbent Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Gyawali for his immature response regarding the encroachment.

“It’s regrettable that the government is unable to talk about its own land,” NC leader Singh said in the program, asking, “How can a government which cannot safeguard the national territory ensure overall security in the country?”

He further pointed out that the inefficiency of the government has made the foreign policy imbalanced, of late.

NC Leader Singh demanded an independent mechanism to probe into high-profile corruption cases and reiterated NC’s stand that irrespective of the position the corrupt should be brought to justice in line with the law.

In the program, Mayor Mohan Bahadur Basnet shared his plan of making the place an ideal site as Kalanki had been the revolution hub that helped in the conclusive rise of the movements for democracy in the past.
