1,246 diagnosed positive in last 24 hours, Nepal’s COVID-19 tally soars to 59,573



KATHMANDU: A total of 1,246 people have been diagnosed coronavirus positive in the last 24 hours, according to Nepal’s Ministry of Health and Population.

The coronavirus tally has reached 59,573 with the fresh cases, Ministry’s Spokesperson Dr. Jageshwor Gautam said on Thursday afternoon.

He added that the new cases were detected when 10,641 samples were tested in laboratories across the country. Nepal has carried out 882,915 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests so far.

A total of 16,241 people are currently under isolation. Dr. Gautam stated that a total of people 8,338 are in home isolation and 7,903 in institutional isolation facilities.

Likewise, 7,883 people are in quarantine facilities across the country at present.

According to Dr. Gautam, 1,243 individuals got discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours while the number of people winning the battle against the virus reached 42,939 in the country.

Nepal’s recovery rate stands at 72 percent, he added.

Meanwhile, four persons lost their lives to the deadly virus in the last 24 hours. The total death toll has reached 383 in the country.
