Cabinet meeting underway, likely to appoint chief secy, ambassadors



KATHMANDU: A cabinet meeting is underway at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Thursday.

The meeting is expected to make appointments of chief secretary, office bearers of constitutional bodies, and ambassadors.

According to sources, the government is making preparations to appoint Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi to the post of chief secretary and incumbent chief secretary Lok Darshan Regmi to the post of Nepali Ambassador for the United Kingdom.

Similarly, joint secretaries at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nirmal Kafle, Kali Pokharel Jivan Shrestha and former minister Yuba Raj Karki and Professor Khadka KC are likely to be picked as ambassadors.

Likewise, Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation said the meeting also might reappoint Kulman Ghising as the Managing Director of Nepal Electricity Authority.

A large section of Nepali people have been piling pressure on the government to reappoint Ghising  due to extraordinary jobs he performed during his tenure.

Ghising’s four-year term  expired on Sunday. The NEA has also bidden already adieu to Ghising.
