COVID-19 cases surpass 1,000 in Rautahat

RAUTAHAT: As many as 125 persons have been infected with COVID-19 in Rautahat in the last 24 hours.

With this, the number of infected persons in the district has exceeded 1,000.

On Wednesday, 20 people were infected in Paroha Municipality of Rautahat, 11 in Baudhimai, 8 in Dewahi Gonahi, 6 in Ishnath and 3 in Maulapur of the district.

According to the District Health Office, Rautahat, the addresses of 77 people have not been confirmed yet.

The total number of infected people in Rautahat has reached 1,046 with the addition of 125 infected people on Wednesday. On Tuesday, 54 infected people were detected in Rautahat.

Despite the increase in the number of infected people, the district has been easing the lockdown. In the main market of Rautahat, locals have not adopted security precautions such as wearing masks and maintaining social distance.

Hotels, grocery shops, food and clothing stores have opened in the inner areas including Gaur, Garuda and Chandranigahapur.

Even though the Nepal-India border has remained closed, it has not been monitored properly. Indian nationals are entering Nepal easily as the administration is not paying attention.

The District Administration Office, Rautahat, has decided to tighten the control of vehicles currently operating in the district. Chief District Officer Basudev Ghimire said that only one person can ride a motorcycle in the system.

So far, 247 infected people have been cured of various isolation centers in Rautahat.
