Lawmakers demand expansion of PCR tests



KATHMANDU: Lawmakers today drew the government’s attention to take action against those involved in raping a woman in Kailali quarantine and expand the PCR tests in the wake of increasing infection of coronavirus.

Speaking during today’s session of the National Assembly, ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) lawmaker Sharada Devi Bhatta asked the government the to take stringent action against those involved in rape.

She said rapists are dangerous than coronavirus.

NCP lawmaker Bimala Poudel asked the government to remain alert to ensure safety to women and children in the pandemic.

Lawmaker Sher Bahadur Kunwar of NCP suggested the government to expand and intensify the PCR tests of some 70,000 to 90,000 people who are staying in quarantine of Sudurpaschim State after returning from India.

Likewise, Ram Narayan Bidari of the same party urged the government to rescue Nepalis stranded in various countries due to COVID-19 lockdown.
