CoAS Thapa and IGP Khanal leave for far-west to inspect Kalapani



KATHMANDU: Chief of Army Staff Purna Chandra Thapa and Inspector General of Nepal Armed Police Force Shailendra Khanal have left for the Border Out Post (BOP) established near India-encroached Kalapani.

Thapa and Khanal left for Sudurpashchim Province to inspect BOP of APF set up at Chharung of Darchula and a base camp of Nepal Army at Ghanti Bazaar on Wednesday morning.

A temporary base camp of Nepal Army and a BOP have been established in Darchula for border security.

Thapa and Khanal left for Dhangadhi in a Skytruck from Kathmandu and will head towards Chharung of Darchula in a Nepal Army helicopter from Dhangadhi.

The Nepal government has been urging India government to withdraw its troops from Kalapani.

The relation between India and Nepal has soured after the latter issued a revised map of Nepal including Kalapani, Limpiyadhura and Lipu Lekh.
