KATHMANDU: The main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) has asked the government to facilitate the stranded Nepalis in border areas to enter Nepal without any risks of coronavirus.

Issuing a press statement on Friday, the party has urged the government to rescue Nepalis stranded in border areas, and those who have returned home from various Indian cities.

NC has also drawn the government’s attention towards making sure all the Nepalis returnees are quarantined properly to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The party said that if the Nepalis stranded in India enter Nepal illegally, it would increase the risks of coronavirus spread and they would also face problems of food and shelter while they relentlessly wait in the border areas to return their homes.

The government has been further reminded that there were many cases of COVID-19 recorded in the country that were contracted from those infected ones illegally coming to Nepal and appealed to observe all the safety measures against the pandemic.

Furthermore, NC’s Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma, in the press statement, urged the government to fulfill its responsibilities with humanitarian sentiment and caution against the infection.
