Bheri Hospital to begin PCR test from Friday

NEPALGUNJ: A team of experts from Kathmandu is arriving at Bheri Hospital for the COVID-19 test.

The Bheri Hospital said that the PCR test would begin most probably on Friday after the inspection of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) lab and test of the equipment, and imparting training to the microbiologists of the hospital.

Medical superintendent of the hospital, Dr. Prakash Bahadur Thapa, said that the PCR machine was installed a week ago but it could not be operated for lack of expertise and delay in supplies of kits from the central level.

The State 5 government has designated this hospital for the PRC test of coronavirus. With the decision of the State, Bheri Hospital has readied a microbiologist and other lab technicians.

After the beginning of the test at Bheri Hospital, the experts’ team is expected to visit Seti Hospital of the Sudur Paschim.

According to Dr. Thapa, the main machine worth Rs 2.5 million and other auxiliary machines for the PRC tests have been fixed, adding that more than 100 sample tests could be completed in a day provided that sufficient human resource and kits.
