Locals agree to facilitate import from Tatopani border point

KATHMANDU: Locals at Melamchi and surroundings have been positive to facilitate the import of medical equipment and safety materials via the Tatopani border point to combat COVID-19.

Though locals were protesting against the government’s decision to resuming the border owing to the threat of the outbreak of deadly COVID-19, they have now agreed to open the border and import the necessary medicines and equipment.

An agreement was forged after discussions among the stakeholders, locals, Chief District Officer and local representatives.

According to Bhotekoshi rural municipality, ward no 2 chairman Dipendra Shrestha, they agreed to resume the border only to import medicines after the discussions with concerned bodies.

He added that they would again hold talks regarding the import of foodstuffs and other necessary goods via border points.

The stakeholders are agreed to adopt safety measures while importing the goods in Nepal.
