KATHMANDU: Police intercepted a van at Milan Chowk in Kapan during a security check Sunday afternoon.
When the security personnel checked the van, it was fully loaded with the sanitary items including masks.
Sajjan Kumar Regmi and Ajim Bak Miya were about to receive the delivery of masks when on-duty mobile police took the van under control.
Ajim Miya runs a photo study at Kapan Chowk while Sajjan Kumar owns a plastic shop at the same locality.
Police caught them red-handed with 168,000 masks as part of the crackdown on the black marketing of sanitary items.
Meanwhile, Suraj Kumar Goyal and Suwas Maheshwori who had gone to deliver the masks also landed in the police net.
Suraj and Suwas are businessmen of Indian origin. They operate an RDG international suppliers at Satungal.
“We have arrested four people including two businessmen of Indian origin on the charge of black marketing of masks,” DSP Hobindra Bogati, spokesperson of Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, told Khabarhub, adding, “We have sealed a storage of RDG International Suppliers at Satungal.”
