KATHMANDU: Seventeen among 84 district hospitals across the country have failed to meet the minimum standards set by the government.

Of them, six hospitals have been found very week in delivering services (with 38 percent of marks).

These hospitals include Malangawa Hospital, Palpa Hospital, Lamahi Hospital, Gaur Hospital, Inaruwa Hospital and Rangeli Hospital.

A study carried out by the Ministry of Health and Population recently has found that most of the hospitals were incapable of providing minimum services.

All the hospitals had received only 48 percent of marks in the first phase.

However, in the second and third phase of monitoring, only 17 hospitals were found week in proving minimum services.

The Health Ministry, during the monitoring, had asked the hospitals 290 questions under eight various topics in the test with the full mark 350.
