NCP row: Today’s SC meeting to pressurize govt to withdraw ordinance

KATHMANDU: The intra-party dispute of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has further deepened after the government introduced an ordinance without holding discussions on it in the party.

The Standing Committee (SC) meeting of the NCP is taking place today. According to a SC member of the NCP, the meeting will dwell on the ordinance on the Constitutional Council brought haphazardly by the government.

Today’s SC meeting will be focused on the ordinance as the leaders of the Dahal-Nepal faction have been dissatisfied with it, according to a leader close to Dahal.

They have been demanding that the ordinance should be withdrawn as Prime Minister and Chairman KP Oli introduced it without consultations with the NCP top leaders.

Majority of SC members had held discussions at Khumaltar yesterday immediately following the issuance of the ordinance.

The SC meeting was postponed until today by passing a condolence motion on Sunday.
