Police, Biplav cadres exchange fire in Sankhuwasabha



SANKHUWASABHA: Police and cadres of the outlawed Netra Bikram Chand alias Biplav-led outfit exchanged fire at Chainpur Municipality-4, Madane on Monday.

Sankhuwasabha Police Chief Nawaraj Malla stated the cadres fled from the scene following the exchange of fire at around 11 am this morning.

Police said that they had to open retaliatory firing after the group’s cadres first opened fire on a regular police patrol.

Malla said there was no loss of life due to gunfire on both sides.

According to the District Police Office, Sankhuwasabha, a large number of security personnel have been deployed in the area.

Malla said that more than 50 security personnel including Armed Police Force and Nepal Police have been deployed at the site.

Additional security personnel from Armed Police Force Arun Battalion, Chainpur, and Area Police Office, Chainpur have reached the spot.

Malla said that the search for the group’s cadres has been intensified by mobilizing security personnel around the spot and no one has been found so far.
