COVID-19 cases cross 51,000-mark in Kathmandu Valley

227 succumb to pandemic so far



KATHMANDU: Coronavirus cases in Kathmandu Valley have crossed 51,000-mark as of Friday.

So far, 51,941 people have been infected with the coronavirus in Kathmandu Valley after 2,402 diagnosed coronavirus positive in the last 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, 1,784 persons in Kathmandu, 244 in Bhaktapur, and 374 in Lalitpur have been tested positive for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours.

A total of 41,813 cases have been confirmed in Kathmandu, 5,929 in Lalitpur, and 4,199 in Bhaktapur so far.

There are currently 37,382 active infections across the country. Of them, there are 22,229 in Kathmandu Valley alone. This number is about 60 percent of the total active cases in the country.

Currently, 17,685 people are actively infected in Kathmandu district alone. Similarly, there are 2,914 active cases in Lalitpur and 1,630 in Bhaktapur.

A total of 227 people have died of the coronavirus pandemic in Kathmandu Valley so far.

Meanwhile, Nepal has recorded as many as 4,392 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population, with the recent data, the total number of cases reached 126,137 in the country as of Friday afternoon.

According to Dr. Gautam, 3,522 individuals got discharged from the hospitals in the past 24 hours while the number of people winning the battle against the virus reached 88,040 in the country.

Nepal’s recovery rate stands at 69.8 percent, he added. Nepal currently has 37,382 active cases, he said.

Dr. Gautam stated that a total of 12,336 people are in institutional isolation and 25,046 others are in home isolation facilities.
