2 Nepalis commit suicide in Australia

KATHMANDU: Two Nepali youths living and working in Australia since last few years have committed suicide there recently.

Amit Ghimire, formerly from Lalitpur, and another youth with Thapa as his surname, have committed suicide in different parts of Australia.

Ghimire, who had been in Australia for more than 5 years, was found dead in the garage of his residence in Edlitz.

He was said to be under mental stress caused by the financial crisis due to the lockdown enforced to curb coronavirus.

The family of the deceased has requested the concerned authorities to arrange to bring the dead body back to Nepal.

Similarly, another youth, who had been living a pompous life by borrowing nearly 700 thousand dollars from friends and relatives from Rupandehi area then living in Australia also committed suicide due to the economic crisis.

He was in pressure as people he borrowed from started asking for the money.

The loss of job due to COVID-19 pandemic and the pressure to return the money he had finished in lavishness had put Thapa in stress.

He has committed suicide by hanging himself in a tree at Tempe Park in Sidney.
