Lockdown being tightened in 4 districts as cases spike

KATHMANDU: Lockdown has been tightened in four districts following an increase in coronavirus infection.

The government has declared four districts as coronavirus ‘hotspot’ districts and decided to strictly enforce the lockdown until the risk is reduced.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has directed to put Sarlahi, Rautahat, Kapilvastu and Dailekh, which are at high risk of coronavirus infection, on the list of ‘hotspots’ and not to operate any services expect essentials.

Apart from the essential services in these four districts, the work of public, private and non-governmental organizations will not continue until further notice.

Home Ministry Spokesperson Kedar Nath Sharma said that Chief District Officers have been instructed to take a decision after assessing the risk and danger of coronavirus infection.

The number of infected people is increasing daily in high-risk districts.

Public, private and non-governmental organizations have started providing services in 73 districts, including the Valley, except for the four high-risk ones.
