Sunken parts of Narayangadh-Muglin road not yet repaired

MUGLIN: The sunken part of the Narayangadh-Muglin road section at two places is yet to be repaired.

The road had caved in two years back at places called Satra Kilo and Chhabis Kilo. The road at these two places had sunk less than a year since the expansion of the Narayangadh-Muglin section of the road.

Information officer at Narayangadh-Muglin Road Improvement Project, Shiva Khanal, said road more than four metres wide and 40 metres long has sunk at Satra Kilo.

The entire highway is nine metres wide at this place. Similarly, road more than six metres wide and 70 metres long has caved in at Chhabis Kilo. The highway is 12 metres wide at this location.

The road was expanded at these two places two years back by constructing anchor wall.

It is said the Trishuli River has started eroding the land on the edge of the road at these two places, leading to the weakening of the anchor walls.

Director General of the Department of Roads, Keshav Kumar Sharma said although they have called for tenders twice to repair the road at these two places, no party has applied as it is technically a difficult work.

With the start of the rainy season, there is a greater risk of further damage to the road at these two places.

Daily 10 thousand vehicles ply on the Narayangadh-Muglin road section which is the major highway connecting the federal capital with the rest of the country.
