Kathmandu administration enforces stringent security measures

KATHMANDU: The District Administration Office, Kathmandu has decided to lock Kathmandu from the neighboring districts — Lalitpur and Bhaktapur – in the Valley.

As the strictest-ever measure to contain the coronavirus and the enforcement of the lockdown, the Kathmandu DAO has decided to prohibit the movement of pedestrians from Lalitpur and Bhaktapur.

When put this decision to effect, no inhabitants of Lalitpur and Bhaktapur will be allowed to enter Kathmandu unless they have ‘pass’ for travel.

The DAO order has also restricted people idling or lazing around in the streets, alleys or the inner roads and warned to sue if disobeyed.

However, the ambulance, hearse, the vehicles carrying medical equipment, raw materials for the industries, ready-made products, petroleum products, the food stuffs, the fodder for birds and animals, animals used for meat, the vans carrying agro products will be allowed to travel uninterrupted in the valley, the DAO statement issued on Friday says.

It’s remarkable that the Ministry of Home Affairs has directed all the authorities issuing pass previously to scrap the ‘pass’ and adopt strict measures against the potential abuse of the such document already issued.
