Eight COVID-19 infected in Narainpur came from India three days ago

BANKE: Eight people who were tested positive for coronavirus at Narainpur in Banke on Friday had arrived in the district from India three days ago.

They had entered the country by using a clandestine route amid the nationwide lockdown.

All these eight people were kept in quarantine along with those rescued from the Nepal-India border in Narainpur few days ago.

The Public Health Office, Banke’s focal person Naresh Shrestha said that a medical squad from the District Public Health Office, Nepalgunj had collected throat swab samples from 45 people on Wednesday.

Among them, eight males aged 18, 20, 22, 25, 25, 27, 32 and 36 years from Nairainpur wards 1, 3 and 5 had tested positive for coronavirus.

The test was conducted at the Nepalgunj-based Bheri Hospital.

As many as 441 people, all coming from India, are in currently in quarantine in Narainapur, which has lately witnessed the highest number of people arriving home from India.

Meanwhile, collection of swab samples from other people in quarantine is being done for PCR test procedures.

Authorities said as many as 407 people have entered Nairanapur in the past three days.

Till Thursday, some 1,108 swab samples, out of collected 1,118, were tested in the Bheri Hospital.

Of them, the results of 1,084 have come negative while remaining 24 tested positive for the virus.
